Line voltage and low voltage under one license. We are a Florida licensed electrical contractor, EC13014608, which most technology integrators are not. Lighting control, keypads, motorized shade power and panel work are line voltage, so an integrator without a license has to sub every bit of it to an electrician. That is another trade to schedule, another markup, and another seam where a problem becomes an argument about whose problem it is. On our jobs the line voltage, the low voltage, the network and the AV are the same contractor.

Pre-wire done once, properly. We walk the plans before framing and mark up what should be roughed in. Everything gets pulled, terminated, labeled and tested, and you get the documentation. Adding a run after drywall costs roughly ten times what it costs before, and that conversation always happens in front of the homeowner.

A network designed rather than assumed. This is where most custom homes fail. Forty-plus connected devices, cameras and guest WiFi flat on one subnet, access points placed wherever there happened to be a stud. We design it the way we design a commercial network, because that is the other half of our business.

Support after you hand over the keys. Documented, labeled, and covered by ongoing monitoring if the homeowner wants it. The point is that in year two they call us, not you.

• Cat6 to every TV location, plus a spare, and to every desk and office wall
• Cat6 to each planned access point, ceiling mounted and central, not in a corner
• Cat6 to every camera position, including the ones the homeowner has not asked for yet
• Conduit from the rack to the attic and to the crawl or slab, so future changes do not mean drywall
• Speaker wire to ceilings, the lanai and the pool deck, terminated and capped
• A properly sized, ventilated rack location with power and a dedicated circuit
• Doorbell, gate and garage low-voltage runs back to the same rack
• Conduit to the pool equipment pad and any detached structure

The single most common regret we hear is conduit that was not run. It is the cheapest thing on this list and the only one that buys back every decision made after move-in.
