Most of them run the whole day on Wi-Fi from a router two rooms from the desk, then wonder why video calls freeze and the VPN drops right before a meeting. Why a wired office beats Wi-Fi for real work
Wi-Fi is shared. The neighbors on a tight Viera East street share it with you, and so do the microwave and the block walls common in older Melbourne and Titusville homes. A cable to the desk gives you a steady connection with low delay, which matters for video calls, VPN sessions and big file transfers. If your employer's security policy forces a VPN, a wired link is often the difference between a session that holds all day and one that drops at 2 p.m.

What PoE actually does for a home office
PoE stands for Power over Ethernet. One network cable carries data and power together, so an access point, camera or desk phone doesn't need an outlet nearby. That lets us put an access point in a hallway ceiling or a camera over the garage door with a single cable and no electrician. It is the same approach we use in our home networking services across Brevard County.
Your laptop or desktop only needs plain Ethernet. PoE is for the devices you want mounted high or far from power. Some of the gear you already own might need a small adapter, and we'll tell you if that's the case.
Getting cable to the desk without opening every wall
Older one-story homes in Sand Point and La Cita in Titusville usually have decent attic access over most rooms. The same goes for a lot of 1990s homes in Suntree and Baytree. We run the cable through the attic and drop it inside the wall to a low-voltage wall plate, so each drop needs one small opening. Slab homes with a garage on the way often route through there instead. We stay in interior walls and avoid drilling through the concrete block exterior.
Two-story homes in Viera East take more planning, but a second-floor office is usually doable with a chase, a closet or an attic run. For a desk you sit at eight hours a day, a real Cat6 cable is still the better choice.
Placement matters more than people think. We usually put the switch where it can breathe, since garage heat in a Florida summer is hard on any electronics. A shaded closet or a spot near the panel beats a sun-baked shelf. We also leave a little slack in the attic and label each cable at the switch, so a future upgrade or a new access point takes minutes and not a hunt through the ceiling.

Price depends on how many drops you need, how easy the attic is to work in, and whether you want a PoE switch and access point. A simple one-drop office is usually a half-day job. A larger setup with a PoE switch, an access point and a camera is more often a full day. We give you a firm price after we see the house, and we don't guess over the phone.
Get it done before the snowbirds land
Seasonal owners arriving in November are often the ones who need this most. The house sits empty all summer, and nobody wants to spend the first week of the season waiting on a work-from-home setup.
